Mat System - 56 hours

Lolita San Miguel believes the Mat work is the foundation of the Pilates Method. It requires no specialist equipment, and it is the most accessible to all students. This Module teaches the historic order, contemporary movements, as well as Pre-Pilates, and Post Pilates movements that will prepare and condition your body to work on the floor using only your own body weight as resistance. The Matwork was designed by Joseph Pilates as the accomplishment of his technique, and Lolita developed and integrated further movements into the traditional work to enable your body to prepare, perform and progress your Pilates practice.

System I - 48 hours

Introduction to the Pilates Apparatus & Beginner Repertoire
The second step in Lolita’s Legacy™ training program is System I” that will introduce you to all the Pilates equipment: Reformer, Cadillac, Chair and Ladder Barrel. Students will learn the most accessible repertoire for clients on equipment which will build up a strong foundation which will create a full body integration. Teaching skills, movement analysis, and equipment knowledge are an essential part of this System.

System I has a detailed manual and is accompanied by online videos of Lolita teaching the exercises.

System II - 48 hours

Intermediate work on Pilates Apparatus and auxiliary small equipment.

The third step in Lolita’s Legacy™ training program is System II that builds on the exercises in System I on apparatus. The repertoire covers intermediate to more advanced Pilates movements on the Reformer, Cadillac, Chair and Ladder Barrel. Teachers will also be introduced to the exercises on the Spine Corrector (Pilates Arc), the Magic Circle, the Foam Rollers and Bars, Balls and other props. At this stage you will learn in depth Case Study skills for planning and progressing a client.
System II has a detailed manual and is accompanied by online videos of Lolita teaching the exercises.

System III - 40 hours

Advanced Movements & Auxiliary Equipment.

The fourth stage of Lolita’s Legacy™ training program is Module III. It builds on previous work and covers further advanced exercises to very complex exercises on equipment like the Reformer, Cadillac, Chair, Ladder Barrel, Spine Corrector, Magic Circle, Foam Rollers and bars.

In addition to these full body movements the Ped-O-Pull will be introduced, as well as other original equipment created by Joseph Pilates. These include the Foot Corrector, Toe Corrector, and Wrist Strengthener.

System III has a detailed manual and is accompanied by online videos of Lolita teaching the exercises.

Final Exam

The last stage of your journey to becoming a Comprehensively trained Pilates Teacher with Lolita’s Legacy™ is the Final Exam.  This will take place no less than 8 weeks after your last in-person course session.

Students must complete each System in sequential order as this creates an understanding of the complete Method. After completing the four modules, assessments and practice hours and only after receiving the passing score in the comprehensive final exam, will you receive a Full Certificate of Education of Lolita’s Legacy™ signed by Lolita San Miguel and your Educator.

Online Digital Theory Exam

Pilates History and Philosophy, Anatomy, Repertoire and Teaching Skills.

This exam is conducted online every three months and can be accessed from your teaching studio or at home.

Case Studies

Creating a three-month Pilates program for 2 designated clients including Apparatus and homework exercises.

The Case Studies are issued one week prior to your Online Digital Theory Exam and will be handed in on theory test day.

Final Exam – 2 Days

Matwork Class, Apparatus Class, 1:1 Clients Teaching

An international Examiner will attend your teaching Studio and assess your skills in movement, teaching and presentation. Any part of the course repertoire may be encountered, and you’ll also be teaching a 1:1 client to give them the best movement experience.

Your personal movement skills will be assessed on an individual basis.  It is fully acceptable that you might not be able to do all exercises as shown in the manual for reasons of injury, pregnancy, or incapacity.  There are no minimum standards, simply an expectation that you shall be the best Pilates mover that you can be.  Embodying the essence of Lolita’s vision of Pilates is more important than checking a list of exercises.

What You Will Learn

Your qualification from Lolita’s Legacy™ is recognised by the NPCP, the National Pilates Certification Program. This was formerly known as the Pilates Method Alliance certification and is the largest verification body of Pilates Teachers in the world. Lolita’s Legacy™ graduates are invited to sit this separate exam which only certifies comprehensively trained Pilates Teachers.

While there are many Level 3 Pilates Diploma courses in the UK, this banner only covers Matwork qualifications, and is therefore irrelevant in the case of a comprehensive certification like Lolita’s Legacy™ which trains you to become a fully qualified Pilates Teacher, able to teach Matwork, Reformer and other Apparatus.

Lolita’s Legacy™ Graduates join a special family of Pilates Teachers whose qualification is recognised the world over. Even from our base in Scotland we have former students who now practice their Pilates trade across the UK, in Holland, Italy Australia and Canada.

Our Graduates have set up their own Pilates Studios, found rewarding jobs in established Studios, some work privately from home, and some are travelling the world on the strength of their skills and knowledge.

In the UK, your qualification from Lolita’s Legacy™ entitles you to membership as a Pilates Instructor Associate of CIMSPA.

Become a Confident Instructor

The Lolita’s Legacy™ program is taught exclusively in-person, developing superior job-ready confidence that only comes from learning in a real life, tactile environment.

The program is rigorous, created by Lolita San Miguel and based upon her 60+ years of Pilates experience.

Not Just a Program, But a Tribe

Joining our program not just connects you with a Pilates community, it helps you build lasting professional relationships with your fellow instructors.

Many of our former students go on to maintain enduring relationships with their cohort, given the close-knit nature of our class sizes, giving you professional connections for life.

Become Part of Lolita's Legacy

Lolita San Miguel is a Pilates Elder, one of the few 1st Generation Pilates Teachers who helped to shape the industry and promote the Pilates Method to its current levels of popularity.

Lolita undertook a course of certification with Joseph Pilates himself, apprenticed to him in his Studio and assisted him in his work. Lolita is one of only two people in the world to be certified by Joseph Pilates

After Joseph’s death, Lolita continued to inspire and develop people with her twin loves – ballet and Pilates. She founded a ballet company and opened a Pilates Studio.

One of the best aspects of Lolita’s view of Pilates is her inclusiveness. There are several strands of Pilates Teacher Training and she recognises all and gives respect where it is due. Lolita believes that one needs to know the full repertoire of Matwork and Apparatus before one can truly be called a Pilates Teacher. This is why so many people who have started their Pilates Teacher journey with other schools often gravitate towards this inclusive and well rounded training.
